Provider Led Route

This is an academic route leading to the award of QTS and a Post-Graduate Certificate.

The Training Year:

Trainees will spend four days in school every week throughout the year, with one day per week spent in centre-based training sessions. You will undertake teaching practices in two consecutive key stages, selecting from 3 - 7 (EYFS and KS1) or 5 - 11 (KS1 and KS2).  We also offer specialism options in mathematics and science.

Our centre-based education sessions follow our Golden Curriculum which has been carefully designed to encompass all aspects of the core and foundation curriculum areas as well as professional studies.  This training is led by outstanding current primary practitioners, and takes place at our training centre at Hillborough Junior School.

Upon successful completion of the academic course requirements, 60 credits at Masters level will be awarded, validated by the University of Buckingham. Trainees who complete 120 credits at Level 6 only will be awarded the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (validated by the University of Buckingham.

Elements Of  The Course

 

  • Developing Professional Practice-Primary, providing an introduction to current educational issues.  

  • Broad Curriculum Studies covering both theory and practice and with a close study of the National Curriculum subjects at Key Stage 1 and 2 and The Early Years Foundation Stage (depending on which course is selected).

  • Structured Mentoring - qualified support through the course.

    Fees

You will be a full time student.  Course fees of £9250.00 for 2023-24 are payable, or £8400.00 for QTS only, without PGCE. You may be eligible for a student loan.
